Are you ready for New Student and Family Orientation? Check out the FAQ below for all the information you need to prepare for the big day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">New Student Orientation is Sunday, August 17 &#8211; Tuesday, August 19. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Family Orientation is Sunday, August 17 &#8211; Monday, August 18.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Why do I have to attend New Student Orientation?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Orientation is mandatory for all incoming students. You will learn about the academic expectations of your major and school, connect with your fellow students and learn about what it means to be a part of the Pacific community.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>What if I can\u2019t attend Orientation?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">All new students living on- and off-campus are required to attend orientation, so you should make it a priority. If you\u2019re worried about a work commitment, speak with your employer ahead of the event. Most employers understand the importance of orientation for college students.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">If you know you cannot attend orientation, please contact the Office of Orientation and Transition Programs at <a href=\"mailto:orientation@pacific.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">orientation@pacific.edu<\/a> as soon as possible.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>What if I miss my Orientation date?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">We do not offer an alternative Orientation session and cannot refund guest fees.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>How do I check in for Orientation?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Orientation is an in-person event. You and your family can check in at the DeRosa University Center on Move-In Day and the first day of Orientation. These are the only times that check-in will be available.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Can I bring someone with me to Orientation?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">You can bring up to two guests for Family Orientation, which has a $75 fee per guest. You can register them ahead of time in your Admitted Student Portal or onsite during check-in. If you register a guest during check-in, you have to pay the fee with a debit or credit card.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Will I receive an email confirmation after registration?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Yes! In fact, you\u2019ll get two confirmations. Immediately after you register, you\u2019ll be sent confirmation through the portal. A few days prior to your Orientation session, you will be sent another confirmation with details on parking, where to check in and the schedule of the day. Please be sure to check your Pacific email for details.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>If I don\u2019t live on campus, can I stay overnight in the Pacific residence hall during orientation?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Unfortunately, no. Students who are living on campus move into their residence halls on the first day of Orientation, so we cannot provide overnight accommodation there for students who live off campus.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>When will I receive the orientation schedule?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The schedule of events for Pacific Week of Welcome (Move-in, New Student and Family Orientation and Week of Welcome) will be available on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacific.edu\/calendar\/Pacific%20Welcome\/all\/all\/all\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>the Pacific website<\/strong><\/a> and a physical copy will be available in person during check-in.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>What if I didn\u2019t take my placement exams before Orientation?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">If you did not take your placement exams before orientation, you will have two opportunities to take the necessary exams during Orientation. Based on your scores, your academic program will give you a revised schedule during your academic advising meeting.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>What should I bring to Orientation?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Our recommended list of items to bring includes:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses and comfortable clothing \u2013<\/strong> It can be hot on campus during the summer, and you will be spending time outside.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Water bottle \u2013<\/strong> You will be provided with a reusable water bottle at check-in, but you are also welcome to bring your own water bottle.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>A laptop \u2013 <\/strong>Recommended for academic advising if you intend to adjust your fall schedule. You cannot enroll in courses using a tablet or phone.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>A notebook and pen<\/strong> <strong>\u2013<\/strong> If you would like to take notes, feel free to bring a physical notebook and something to write with.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>A phone charger or portable charger<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Any medications you may need<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>What if I want to change my major?<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">If you want to change your major, reach out to the Office of Admissions before Orientation.
