First steps<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you receive your offer letter, make sure you&#8217;ve taken care of these steps:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Ensure your <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>FAFSA<\/strong><\/a><strong> is filed:<\/strong> You&#8217;ll need to have a 2025-26 FAFSA on file with Pacific&#8217;s school code (001329) to receive your financial aid offer.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Parents, complete the FERPA release form:<\/strong> To discuss your student&#8217;s financial aid details with the Financial Aid Office, ensure your student completes a FERPA release form. Understanding your offer letter\u00a0<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s break down everything that\u2019s in your offer letter:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Scholarships and grants<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The top section outlines your merit-based scholarships and need-based grants (if applicable).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These are awarded annually, with amounts broken down per semester (fall and spring).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This is gift aid, meaning you don&#8217;t have to repay it.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cost of attendance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Direct costs:<\/strong> These are billed directly by the university and include tuition and fees, as well as housing and food.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Indirect costs:<\/strong> These are estimated expenses not billed by the university, such as transportation, books, supplies and personal expenses.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The letter calculates your <strong>net cost<\/strong> after deducting gift aid from direct costs.
